Before we get into the Haute Stock review I want to talk about free stock photos and why you shouldn’t use them.
Why you shouldn’t use free stock photos
There are lots of websites where you can get free stock photos so you’re probably thinking that buying stock photos is a waste of money.
But, just because something is free it doesn’t mean it’s worth it.
I want to take a moment to explain why it’s not worth it and why you SHOULDN’T be using free stock photos.
There are two main reasons why using free stock photos isn’t as great as you might think:
- You could get sued
- Free stock photos are overused (that’s especially important for Pinterest)
Yes, you read that right.
You could get sued by using photos from those free websites.
The problem with free stock photo websites is that anyone can submit photos to those sites.
And you don’t know if the photos they submitted are actually theirs or if they had stolen and uploaded somebody else’s photos.
A lot of bloggers got in trouble and had legal issues because they used photos from free sites that were actually stolen.
If a potential lawsuit isn’t a good enough reason for you, then this next reason might change your mind.
Using free stock photos could be hurting your reach on Pinterest (and lead to less traffic to your website)
First of all, free stock photos are so overused!.
If you go on Pinterest right now and do a quick search you can find thousands of pins using the same photo.
So your pin wouldn’t stand out in Pinterest feed and people would think they have seen it or clicked on it before because of the photo.
Another reason free stock photos could be messing up with your reach is because of Pinterest’s visual search.
When you click on a pin and lick on that little magnifier in the right bottom corner, Pinterest will show you some pins that are visually similar. That’s its visual search.
The reason I’m telling you this is to show you how smart Pinterest is.
Besides reading the keywords, Pinterest can actually see your photo.
Those two things help Pinterest understand what your pin is about.
And if you use a photo that was already used for lots of different topics that have nothing in common, your pin could be labeled as something that it isn’t.
As you can see, free photos aren’t as good as they seem at first.
That’s why it’s so important to invest in paid stock photos.
If you’re blogging as a business (or want it to be a business one day) it’s important to treat it like a business and invest in it.
As I always say, in order to make money blogging, you need to spend money.
There are lots of different places where you can buy stock photos but I think that a stock photo subscription is the best and cheapest option.
The one I’m gonna be talking about is Haute Stock.
To find out what Haute Stock actually is and my honest thoughts on their membership, keep on reading!
My Honest Review of Haute Stock Membership
What is Haute Stock?
Haute Stock is a styled stock photo membership that was created with female entrepreneurs and business owners in mind.
Their photos include lots of soft and feminine details and colours
What you get with the Haute Stock Membership
Once you subscribe to Haute Stock membership you get access to over 4,900 photos.
They have lots of different photo styles, from flat lays to desktops to lifestyle shots, detail shots, beautiful interiors and so much more.
No matter which plan you choose, you can download an unlimited number of photos.
If you wanted to go and download all 4,500+ photos you could.
They add new photos every Monday so there are always new and fresh photos to use.
What I love about the Haute Stock is that they are always prepared for upcoming seasons and events, and create new stock photos for them.
In the Haute Stock library, you can find lots of different categories of stock photos.
Some of them are:
- Beauty and Fashion
- Food and Drinks
- Health and Wellness
- and more
Besides stock photos, Haute Stock also has graphics packs that come with different icons, textures, and stickers to make your images unique. They also have Instagram quotes as well as templates for Instagram Stories.
With a library so big, it would take so long to go through all the photos and find what you’re looking for.
That’s why Haute Stock has a search bar where you can enter some keywords to help you find photos faster.
You can also filter through photos to help you narrow down your search.
You can choose the photo size you want to search for.
And choose colours you want.
You can also choose whether you want the photos to include people in them or not.
Or if you want photos with technology on without.
You can see some of the ways to filter your search on this screenshot.
What I like about Hate Stock
- there are so many photos to choose from and they update the Haute Stock library every Monday
- the photos are very high quality and sharp (if you crop them or enlarge them, they won’t get blurry )
What I don’t like about Haute Stock
- that you have to download each photo individually (or by collection if you get the annual plan)- I think it would be helpful if you could choose multiple photos at once and then download all the selected ones (that would save so much time)
How to get started with Haute Stock
Getting started with Haute Stock is super fast and simple.
You just go to the Haute Stock website and click on “Sing up” under a plan of your choice.
Then you’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll have to enter all your information and payment details.
Once you’re done with all of that you’ll get an email from Haute Stock with the link to activate your account and some other helpful information.
And that’s it.
Haute Stock has 2 membership plans, a quarterly and an annual plan.
Below you can see a screenshot of their plans and what is included in the membership.
As you can see there aren’t really any differences between the plans.
The only difference is that with the annual plan you download entire collections at once while on the quarterly plan you can download individual photos.
And of course the price difference.
If you were to look at how much money each plan would be monthly, the quarterly plan would cost you $33 while the annual plan would be $25 a month.
So you would save up $8 every month with the annual plan.
I went with the quarterly plan because I wanted to try it out first and see how I like their photos.
And to be honest, $299 was too expensive for me.
So I got the cheaper plan to try it out first.
And honestly, I would recommend that to everyone.
First, get the quarterly plan to see how you like their images and how much use you’ll get out of them.
And once you know Haute Stock photos are for you, get the annual plan to save some money.
You can also get 21 photos for FREE when you subscribe to their newsletter. And you’ll continue to get some free photos every month.
So if you’re not sure about investing money in their membership and not sure whether you’ll like the photos or not, you can subscribe to the Haute Stock newsletter for free HERE!
Final Words On Haute Stock photos
If you have the money to invest in Haute Stock I would definitely recommend it.
I looked at some other stock photo memberships before deciding on Haute Stock, but, honestly, I wasn’t impressed with any of them.
Right off the bat, I noticed that Hate Stock’s photos looked higher quality and more luxurious.
And that’s why their price is a little higher than the other ones.
Because you are getting really high-quality and professional photos.
And I think they are worth every penny.
Have you tried Haute Stock? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
